Customers seem all happy to finally plug their survey information into Civil 3D and continue working on their project… When all of the sudden, they notice that there is something strange with the way their “Specify Data Source” looked. There was no Browse button, no matter how much they stretched that dialog.

If you ever seen something similar and wanted to know how to fix just continue reading.

There is a great chance that your fonts look bigger, too. This can happen if your DPI setting is not set to the 96 DPI (default). It is important to have this setting set to 96 so that program can display all information as they are mapped on the dialog. The setting is part of Windows settings and can be easily adjusted.

In Windows XP:

  1. Right-click on the desktop and choose Properties
  2. In Display Properties, Settings tab click Advanced
  3. In General tab, set DPI to Normal size (96 DPI)

In Windows Vista and Windows 7:

  1. Right-click on your desktop and choose Personalize
  2. On the left size of the dialog click on Adjust font size (DPI)
  3. In DPI settings set Default scale (96 DPI)

Now, check if your dialog box shows Browse button.
