C3D 2011: Have you seen my Ribbon! It seems to be missing…

This is an issue popping up more and more lately. In older releases, I would suggest to restore the backup CUI as a solution since the CUI contains Ribbon data but times are changing. A different solution is available for Civil 3D 2010 and now determined to solve the same issue in the 2011 product too. Apparently when the workspace loads after the application has been launched, a registry key that controls what license type is installed, network or stand alone has switched leading up to this error…

The solution is simple!

1. Type WSCURRENT in the command line.

2. When prompted, type Civil 3D.

3. Wait! You will see the workspace reload.

4. Next, type WSSAVE and overwrite the Civil 3D workspace.

Once you reopen the application, the Ribbon will display as expected.
