What Styles and Settings are in My Template or Drawing?

January 17, 2013

Ever wonder what it would be like to have a list of all the styles and settings inside your drawing or template file?

We all have at one point I’m sure.  Well it can be done.  You can actually output the styles and setting to a .txt file for review.  Alternatively, you can choose the SCREEN option to have them placed in your drawing area.  I do not recommend the latter.  A .txt file works much better, and faster.

The command to do this is DUMPSTYLESANDSETTINGS.

Then you specify which option you want, Screen or File…

Welcome to Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler

November 22, 2011

Last year Autodesk Labs introduced us to Project Galileo.  This year Autodesk enhanced Project Galileo and released it as Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler.

I installed Project Galileo last year and never did anything with it.  But now that is has been released as Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler, I have been going full steam ahead in this software.  It’s absolutely amazing and extremely easy to use.

I have created a local dataset (Houston, Texas) to teach in my Civil 3D classes.  The last day of the class I  like to show my students “our” project that we just completed in Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler.  The students are blown away!!

The image below is my completed project in Civil 3D, and the images below that, is my project in Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler.  Click on images to enlarge.

If you are from Houston, notice the Williams Tower in the background.  You have the liberty of pulling 3D buildings and other 3D objects of the internet.  Places like Autodesk Seek or Google’s 3D Warehouse is a great place to download some great stuff.

The performance in this software is uncanny!
